Description |
This 5 day advanced hands-on course addresses skill sets for professionals who work with development and deployment teams and perform the following tasks for the configuration of enterprise applications: Assembly, Installation, Security, Manageability, Performance, Reliability, and Scalability of the application server. Participants will also explore the interoperability of the application server with external HTTP servers, database servers, and LDAP servers.
This course uses the Windows 2000 and UNIX* platforms. Students will work in teams of 2: each team will have a set of machines on which to configure and run WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition WAS(AE) v4.0.
* We recommend UNIX servers based on RedHat Linux. Solaris can be used with adequate prior notice. |

- Understand the J2EE architecture and implementation of WebSphere Application Server
- Perform the installation steps of WAS (AE) and Single Server
Editions
- Compare the different ways to assemble an enterprise application using the Application
Assembly Tool as well as WebSphere Studio Application Developer
- Install and configure an enterprise application in WebSphere Application Server
Single Server Edition
- Migrate an enterprise application from Single Server Edition to the Advanced Edition
- Import/Export WebSphere configuration information using XML
- Modify WebSphere configuration using WebSphere Control Program
(WSCP)
- Configure WebSphere Security using LDAP user registry
- Enable SSL for a WebSphere application
- Discuss WebSphere workload management options
- Separate HTTP server to enable different network topologies
- Configure an enterprise Java application for Work Load Management
with WAS (AE)
- Configure session management using persistent stores
- Discuss DMZ and firewall topologies
- Work with troubleshooting and tools
This course is a highly hands-on course that takes you through many aspects of the
administrative tasks on the WebSphere Platform. |
